Overview:
This post is trying to gather all information about the 42" and 48" B-Series and appropriate Simplicity Lawn decks. I'll be photographing decks I have and searching the forums to assist in getting as much information available. I'll be posting questions in the discussion forums to see if others can assist in detailing this tip.
48" deck roller bar length:
46 1/4" - 46 1/2" by 5/8" diameter uses bushing (part # 2108419)
has cotter pin holes are 3/16" dia.
Note: Can use 5/8" shaft collars verses cotter pins from TSC or Big R.

Key Differences between the various 42" decks:
Difference between the 990407 and the 501,544 and 575 42" rotory mowers
Notice that the Bail Assembly has a solid bar after the 407 model. They must have discovered that was a weak point. So that's how you can tell you have the 407.
Differences between the 990501 and the 544 & 575 42" rotory mowers:
The 501, 544 and 575 all look to be exactly the same part numbers by comparing two manuals. The 501 & 544 only have one manual and the 575 has it's own manual. After comparing each of the diagrams, I'm fairly confident these manuals only differ by page 3 and page 8. So if you have one of these decks without the sticker, they are the same.
#1 - Page 3 of the 545 manual has a diagram of the adapter kit shown here:
#2 - Page 8 of the 501 & 544 manual lists the AM part which is not listed in the 545 manual:

Notice that the 1690021 has only three rollers in the middle of the roller attachment verses the 990669 has four rollers. The 1690021 seems to side from side to side.

This section will attempt to show what parts can be switched between the various 42" decks and the 48" decks.
Note: The roller bar on the 48" deck has a slight curve to the mount on both the 1690021 and the 990669. Will show measurements, pictures and sketch of this difference.
