Thanks to both Mike and Nate for the engine numbers.

Nate, judging from the numbers, it looks like the engines in both your T-15 and T-16 have been replaced.

The T15 would be 1972 or earlier. The T16 already replaced the T15 by 1973.

I do believe, the engine in your T-15 is a replacement. Briggs quit building the 15 hp cast iron engine in 1972. Also, the type number from the engine in your T-15 is higher than any type number from a 15 hp. They only went as high as 0160.

Could it be that you misread the first number of the type number on the engine in the T-15. I can find no type numbers that high on any of the cast iron engines. If the type number happened to be 0627-01 instead of 6627-01, you might have a 10 hp engine in your tractor.

As far as I have been able to tell, the T-15 was replaced by the T-16 for the 1973 model year.

Maybe the first two numbers of the type were 00 (0027-01)? Could be a 13 or 16 hp then.

Mike, according to your serial no., you have an early model T-16H. The ID no. to your tractor is 1600285 (from the first three numbers of the serial no.). They were made in the Allis-Chalmers plant in Lexington, SC.

Would you please take some good pics of the front axle on your tractor and post them? TIA.

So that was indeed the axle used on early Homelites 1600285 and like.
