Help! Trying to help fix a friends IH with a 3 cyl diesel. The mower has an electric switch to engage the front drive belt. Supposed to lift the switch and the mower should keep running, but as soon as you release the switch it pops back and the blade stops. Any advise would be greatly appreciated.

Sounds like the detente that is supposed to keep the switch in the on position is broken. Time for a new switch, or put a clothes pin under it to keep it on. You may be able to replace it with something other than OEM for less money.
Together we can do anything.. The impossible just takes longer!

I have to agree with K1dan. Sounds like a new switch is in order.
