Been wanting a Squire, and have bird-dogged this one for a while. Finally came together with the owner (stubborn...), and picked it up today. 360 miles round trip is definitely my limit! I'm still shaking my head...BUT, I did make a new friend, and I have another tractor for the trailer load I'm hoping to take to Jon's show this summer

It's a '64 Squire 9, and I'll grab some decent pics in the morning. I wanted a pre-10hp Squire in the worst way, and had a hard time nailing one down. I got the deck too, so hopefully, I canget her tuned up and running nice enough to mow with, then polish it up this winter.

Tomorrow, we're off to the quarter car wash, then MAYBE, we'll fire it up. Lots going on, and I'm going to have to put her on the back burner for a while.

For Larry...the old boy (not so old) would love both your sickle bar and your weedcutter!

For B10Dave...the old boy (not so old) loved your mexican beers, aparently! =] (who doesn't like free beers?)

Yeah, that back burner blows. What is this, #12?

He's not stubborn, you just forgot the roll of duct tape as a peace offering.

And B10Dave has even larger eyes on my sickle bar...

360 miles, so you weren't looking at the Squire in Ann Arbor? I thought for sure you were gearing up to snag that one! Nice find, looking forward to more pics.

Overall, it's got a nice even coat of surface rust/freckles, but the but th epaint hasn't flaked or chipped, and the metal seems unharmed. The metal is nice and straight, with the exception of the corner of the hood, and the fenders have a bit of a tweak to them. I think I can get both fixed up nice enough.

The rims are going to need a good sanding and painting, but are very solid as well. The original tires are shotty, but don't leak down, so they'll stay for now. The seat isn't in too bad of shape and the steering and BGB are as tight as you can find. The deck is solid as a rock and the bearings feel good. It doesn't look like there has ever been an attachment on the rear or a pulley on the front PTO.

I'm going to give her fresh oil, gas and a charge, then we'll see if it will run or if I need some tweaking. Eventually, I'm going to lightly hit the paint with some fine grit paper, and maybe even emery cloth to knock that rust off, and I may even go so far as to paint, but that might be a project for this fall.

She's no beauty queen right now, but I think we can make it shine...sometime.

Congrats Josh! Looks very good to me. If you don't have time for it i can take her off your hands, as i'd like a squire 9 myself!

Nice score! Wouldn't mind one myself. Looks like it's very complete and unmolested, that's worth a lot!

I'm tickled to have a 23D...my first! It's just ugly right now, but I threw some gas in it and it fired on the first crank! The carb is a leaky SOB, so I have a spare I'm going to swap on there. I don't think the finish will take much, just some elbow grease. It would be great to redo it like the Big Ten, but I don't have that in me. Loader first...sickle bar next, then the weedcutter...

Freddie, that manual look slike it's for a Gilson made Garden Mark. I had one of those locally that sat for months at $300...hydrostat, ran great, 3pt, hydraulic lift...but ugly as sin. I heard mixed reviews about the lift and tranny, and couldn't make the leap to a new brand of machine. It was Blue and White.
