That's why I quit posting, no one actually reads my posts, every tractor is stamped with the date it rolled off the assembly line, You just have to know where to look, ask Phil he knows everything.

I read your posts Mike, as I'm sure most do. Where the heck are ya?

ATF, I read your posts as well. Mostly because you poke fun at Larry, he pokes back, it's all good fun. Mostly because it's someone else getting poked at!

Is there somewhere else other than rims the date is stamped? Of course the engine, but I tend to not believe either. I personally have a certificate and Mother's word that I too appeared to the world in year of our bicentenial, but I have no such thing for my toys.

Man your one tough customer. I usually check both rear wheels against the engine code, Most of my tractors I've bought from the original owners or their relatives, so along with the paperwork backing up the number, I'm more than sure. The simplicity I bought from the original owners brother, he was in his 70's and his brother had passed, they lived next door to each other and he owns a 912. One thing I do not know is whether my tractor was sold as a 1976 or 1977, I'll bet the latter, given the late production date. My apologies to "The Patriot" for the curt, snide remark, it was uncalled for.

Yes, I am a tough customer! Just ask any parts man that sees me regular, I challenge their stupid computers all the time! I was hoping there was a secret stamping I didn't know about, I don't know everything just yet,,,, maybe by the end of the week, but not yet!

Yeah the wheels are stamped in metal when their made, usually the same year the tractor rolls off the assembly line, but they are actually ink stamped the day the tires go on and it leaves the line, My Massey's are the same, as are some of my other tractors, cant remember not seeing one not marked, and again with the engine date code and any prior history info, I think you can be more than sure.

Mine is number 17852 a little earlier than yours. I seriously doubt they made more than 7500 of this model number, probably closer to 5,000 maybe less.

Alright, you got me, how is #17852 earlier than #1929. Did they not number them 1 through whatever? I just have no knowledge on their numbering system.... from what I've read here I can understand Briggs numbering system, just not Port Washington's...

OK! I wasn't sure if it was more of a code than just a number. Makes perfect sense now...
