Posted - 06/26/2011 : 18:09:26 Went to change the main belt and without thinking pulled the top cover off, wrong. There is one on the bottom you pull for that. So I took it off and put it on horses and it was actually pretty easy to work on. It was worth it to clean the pulleys and tighten the belts, went right through it. It is so smooth and quiet it's disturbing, with those blades sticking 3" out... You dont see them when it's running. Fortunatly it does stop completely with the new belt.
Oh, you adjust the 3 top belts by loosening the idlers which are in slots, the manual says to use a wood lever but I got them plenty tight by hand.

Posted - 06/26/2011 : 18:49:38 The two top middle pulleys have double pulleys, the left middle pulley is driven from the bottom. 4 belts total.
With it raised it steers harder but not bad with the narrow front tires, with it down it steers just like a snowblower, poorly. Especially on soft ground like I was on. |
